This is one of my favorite cheap comfort foods. As a young adult I could eat this all week long and many times did. My mom called it American Chop Suey, I just call it Slop!
Ingredients
- 16 ounces small shell pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cans tomato soup
- 6 slices american cheese
Directions
1
Boil pasta according to packaged instructions, drain and set aside.
2
In a medium skillet brown meat, add garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper.
3
Drain meat and place cheese slices on top of meat, remove from heat, cover and allow cheese to melt into meat.
4
Add to the pot of drained pasta, the tomato soup and 2 cans of warm water stirring to blend.
5
Add meat mixture to pasta mixture, stirring to blend well.
6
Cook over low to medium heat until cheese and soup is blended well.

May need additional salt and pepper as it is very bland.
